ROKO Cancer in the House of Commons - Reception to Mr Yash ChopraMKC Trust invited Mr. Yash Chopra, Producer-Director, Legend of Indian Cinema as Patron and Pamela Chopra as Champion Extraordinary to join the Roko Cancer Campaign. The events were held on 16th at Leicester County Cricket Club, Leicester City Football Club, Walkers Stadium and Peepul Centre, Leicester where they were honoured and greeted by the local crowd.
On 17th May 2007 at the House of Commons, Mr. APS Chawla chairman MKC Trust along with Rt. Honourable Keith Vaz MP, Tony Baldry MP and John Barratt MP held an event to honour Mr. Yash Chopra, Producer-Director, Indian Cinema as Patron Roko Cancer Campaign and as legend of Indian Cinema and Pamela Chopra as Champion extraordinary. The Charity aims to bring awareness of Breast Cancer amongst diverse communities in UK and India. The Charity is also initiating campaign in Pakistan in the coming months whereby the Mobile breast cancer detection unit will travel to Pakistan for three months in association with a Breast Cancer Charity in Pakistan to do free awareness and detection camps for the women. The unit will also travel to other South Asian countries in the near future.
The event on 17th was attended by eminent figures from the world of political, administrative, educational, medical and business communities. The guest included Mr Steven Timms Minister of Treasury, Lord Dholakia, Baroness Verma, Mrs Sandra Howard Patron Roko Cancer, David Burrows MP, Mr Dwarka Nath Rao, Head Of Operations, Air India, Jeremy Hughes, CEO Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research, Mr Naresh Goyal, Chairman Jet Airways, Isha Bhandari, Director Operations, India MKC Trust and other MPs from different Political spectrum were present. Mr Yash Chopra emphasised the need of early detection in women and appreciated the awareness and detection drive undertaken by Roko Cancer Campaign. Representatives of all Political Parties in Parliament honoured Mr APS Chawla, Chairman MKC Trust for his commendable work in the Roko Cancer Campaign.
A world premier of the Roko Cancer Campaign documentary film "Love for Life" was screened. An icon of romance in Indian cinema, Mr. Yash Chopra, truly states in the film "Pooja, Simran, Chandni and Zaara are beautiful names, they have one thing in common – LIFE, LOVE IT!! Pamela Chopra’s soulful rendition of "Tere Liye" from her husband Yash Chopra’s milestone film, Veer Zaara, opens "Love for Life".
