The wedding of Aseem, son of Kailash and Neelam Kohli, and Devika, daughter or Ranjan and Sonia Dhawan was the talk of the town in Chandigarh in December 08. The ceremonies lasted almost five days; brginning with devotional keertan, shagun, chunni, sangeet and ending with the main event on the final day when the marriage party from the groom’s side made its way, with music and dancing all the way, to the sprawling lawns of The Chandigarh Club, the landmark of the city. There were almost five hundred guests at the wedding. Quite a few of them had travelled to Chandigarh from the United States and the United Kingdom. The whole night affair of rituals culminated in Doli, when the groom brought his precious bride to his home. It was almost 3am. Fatige was writ large on everybody’s face. A battle of love finally won.

The hallmark of celebrations was a musical evening (Sangeet) held at the Himachal Bhavan and the wedding night celebrations and rituals of Hindu wedding lasting well into wee hours.
