Padmashri juthika roy felicitated
Legendary bhajan singer Padmashri Juthika Roy was felicitated recently in Mumbai. The 90 year-old singer received the first one lakh rupees “Hari Om Sharan Award” given by Anup Jalota Welfare Foundation, Hinduja Foundation, and C.K.R.D.T. Foundation at the Bhajan Samrat Padmashri Purushottam Das Jalota Bhajan Sammelan, organized by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai. Legendary music director Khayyam was the Chief Guest, while Government of Maharashtra’s Principal Secretary B. P. Pandey, senior journalist and editor of “Nutan Savera” Nand Kishore Nautiyal, popular singer-actor Shekhar Sen and Hari Om Sharan’s wife, bhajan singer Nandini Sharan were guests of honour. Padmashri Purushottam Das Jalota presided over the function. Dancer Bichitra Mukhopadhyaya presented a dance with members of her group on a bhajan. Leeladhar Patole of Nandura, Sayali Acharya of Nagpur and Abhishek Marondkar of Wardha, awardees of bhajan competition organized by Anup Jalota Sanskritik Manch, Nagpur; presented one bhajan each; followed by a power packed performance by Anup Jalota. Piyush Pawar, Amit Chaube, Pradeep Ghosh, Himanshu Tiwari, Iqbal Warsi and Madhu Rege accompanied the singers on musical instruments. Narayan Agarwal ‘Narayan’ of N.A.Classical presented a trophy to Purushottam Das Jalota for the record sale of his 16 CD set of Bhajan Parag. Suresh Jethva’s Music Master Directory’s latest edition was released on the occasion. Lalit Khanna, Rajiv Arora, Lalit Seth, M.K. Patel, and Anil Joshi of Sur Singar Samsad, Hemant Mehta of Anup Jalota Welfare Foundation, Mrs. Lalita Nijhawan alongwith her husband and sons representing C.K.R.D.T. Foundation and Mrs. Neela Ben Shah felicitated the artistes on the stage. Lyricist-painter Kiran Mishra read the scroll of honour. Juthika Roy sang one bhajan to the delight of the large audience. Shashank Bhatt of New Jersy (USA) also felicitated Juthika Roy on the occasion. Anup Jalota declared that the Hari Om Sharan award will be given every year to a reputed singer, music director or lyricist of devotional songs.
BHARAT ASMITA NATIONAL AWARDS PRESENTED
The Vice President of India Dr.Mohd. Hamid Ansari presented the coveted Bharat Asmita National Awards to Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation G. Madhavan Nair, Aruna Roy, Nikhil Dey and Shankar Singh of Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan, Director of Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata Prof. Shekhar Chaudhury and Member of Parliament Bhavana Gawali at Teen Moorti Bhawan, New Delhi. Assistant Director General of Administration, UNESCO Mr. Amine Khene was guest of honour. The awards are given every year by the MAEER’s MIT School of Government and MIT School of Business, Pune. Convenor of awards committee Rahul Karad welcomed everybody and gave details of the awards. Founder President of MIT group of institutions Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad felicitated the Vice President. Dr. R.A. Mashelkar and Prof. Dr. Yashpal spoke on the occasion. Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Nanda was also present on the dais as one of the members of the awards committee.

BEAUTIFUL RUSSIAN DANCES
Albert Asadullin, national artist of Tatarstan and honored artist of Russia presented beautiful programme of music and dance in Mumbai recently. Programme prepared and presented by the group of Brahma Kumaris students from Russia was a unique experience for the large crowd. Alepova Liubov, barch Larisa, Bashkin Alexey, Borina Valentina, Efimova Marina, Ekimova Veronika, Gelan Irina, Kachaeva Inna, Karaseva Elena, Kireeva Natalia, Korchachenko Konstantin, Korolkova Marina, Kuznetsov Yuy, Lantsova Svetlana, Mazharova Tatiana, Puzyna Andrei, Romashko Alisa, Ryabova Irina, Sborovskaya Larisa, Stepanova Tatiana, Tikhonov Victor, Ushakova Alexandra, Ushakova Irina, Zavyalova Ekaterina, Myasoedov Ivan, Krangach Kirill, Vasiliev Vladimir, Kurenkova Anna, Ibragimov Rustam, Nabieva Liliya, Nabiev Rinat, Khatuleva Liudmila, Milgoui Natalia, Petrenko Denis, Turtsevich Alena and Zhilova Mariya were greeted with loud applause throughout the programme. The artistes presented some Hindi songs and some Indian dances too. The programme was organized by the Brahma Kumaris’ Business & Industry Wing and B.S.E.S. Municipal General Hospital managed by Brahma Kumaris’ GHRC, Mumbai.
RACHANAKAR ANEK: GAYAK KALAKAR EK
A unique programme of poetry and singing was organized recently at Nagpur by the Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahitya Academy and Swar Bahaar, in which 3 Hindi poets and 3 Urdu poets participated, alongwith one singer. Hindi poets Krishna Kumar Chaube, Dr. Sagar Khadiwala and Kishan Sharma; Urdu poets Dr. Mansha Ur Rehman Khan Mansha, Zafar Kaleem and Ismail Shauk recited one of their poems on the stage, and playback singer M.A. Kader sang each poet’s another poem in presence of large music lovers. Sandesh Popatkar, Naasir Khan, Vijay Naidu, Zubair Ahmed and Dinesh Kale provided beautiful support on musical instruments. Nand Kishore Nautiyal, Executive President of the Academy, presided over the function, which was inaugurated by former minister Anil Deshmukh. Police Commissioner Praveen Dixit, Additional Municipal Commissioner Atul Patne, Additional Divisional Commissioner Anshu Sinha, Advocate Prashant Sathyanathan and Academy’s Programme convenor Dr. Keshav Phalke were the guests of honour. Zeenat Kader welcomed all guests with flowers, and Advocate K.R. Chourasia spoke about the programme. Senior composers Ram Gadkari and Pandhari Nath Kadam were also felicitated. The programme was nicely arranged by Aziz Patel.
SURYADATTA NATIONAL AWARDS 2009 CONFERRED
Well known classical singer Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Mrs. Rajshree Birla, Chief of Aditya Birla Group, Scientist Dr. Vasant Gowarikar, Social Reformer Dr. Sharad Chandra Gokhale, and poet-astrologer Pratibha Moadak were given Suryadatta Lifetime Achievement awards recently in Pune. Mohan Parasaran, Kumar Ketkar, Sudha Chandran, Dr. Madhusudan Jhamwar, Pradeep Bhide, and Sunil Runwal got the Suryadatta National awards for outstanding service in their respective fields. Prof. Dr. Sanjay Chordiya welcomed all at the 11th Foundation Day and said that the award winners are the role-models for today’s youth. Vidyavachaspati Dr. Shankar Abhyankar was the chief guest and Dr. K.H. Sancheti was the guest of honour. Dr. Mohan Dharia released the magazine “Roshni” on the occasion.
