Help your skin to glow!
by Kiran Grover
Skin ailments are very common, and can affect peoples’ appearance and their confidence. They can result in lack of sleep and cause irritation and misery. More people than ever are suffering with Acne, Vitiligo, Dermatitis, Eczema or Psoriasis. This increase has been linked to allergies, diet and food additives, pollution, genetic disposition and many other factors of modern living.
Homeopathic treatment for skin ailments takes into consideration all these factors and more. Therefore when treating skin conditions it is advised that you visit a registered Homeopath (RSHom).
Hahnemann, the German Physician founder of Homeopathy noted that the body often rids itself of toxins and impurities through the skin, as this is the most external organ. It does mean that skin complaints are quite common, but a comforting thought is that in most cases these complaints do not signify a serious medical condition – in fact your body is working well, expelling the toxins you’ve accumulated.
The Healthy Homeopathy Clinic in Northwood Consulting Rooms has successfully been running an eczema programme for a couple of years. Eczema can vary in intensity from patches of dry skin that become inflamed, itchy, red and sore to, in severe cases, the eczema becoming blistered, cracked and bleeding. Eczema often runs in families with a tendency to asthma, hay fever and eczema. Eczema is a chronic complaint and therefore needs to be treated by a registered Homeopath. Our treatment includes treating the individual symptoms, the patient’s susceptibility to the ailment and also any allergies, all on an individual level.
Many teenagers develop acne at puberty due to hormonal changes, however many adults as well suffer from acne. There is an increase in sebum production which results in oily secretions blocking pores resulting in spots and pimples. They can become infected which leads to more unsightly eruptions. Acne occurs on the face but can affect the neck, shoulders and back. It frequently occurs in families; stress can also contribute to a flare up. Our Homeopathic treatment involves treating the individual symptoms, inherited factors and also the person’s constitution.
To live healthily, one has to consume high quality produce. Drink plenty of water (about 2 litres a day), eat five portions of fresh local and seasonal fruit and vegetables, and use whole grains and good quality dairy and protein. Bear in mind that 60% of what we apply to our skin is absorbed into our blood stream, so consider the side effects of common ingredients in many toiletries. You could even try some organic products which are free of chemicals, preservatives and artificial fragrances. The Soil Association logo guarantees that products meet the highest organic standard. Although organic products cost slightly more than popular brands, they are often concentrated so a smaller amount lasts longer.
As well as eczema and acne Homeopathy can help with Vitiligo, Dermatitis, Psoriasis etc. The Homeopath again treats the individual symptoms and helps the patient return to better health. See www.healthyhomeopathy.co.uk for more information
What is Homeopathy and what is it made from?
Homeopathy is a complete form of complementary medicine that treats mental, emotional, and physical complaints. It stimulates the body’s own healing power by identifying and addressing the cause rather than suppressing the symptoms. Homoeopathic treatment is designed around the individual, specific to their condition and character; a unique prescription. It values the individual above all, taking in to account personal lifestyle and specific symptoms, rebalancing mental, emotional and physical well being.
Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted quantities of substances derived from a variety of plants, minerals and other materials to stimulate the body’s own healing. They may be used for both prevention and treatment of disease and are specifically designed to suit the individual and their needs.
