Kavya Dhara’s special programme for the launch of Pushpa Bhargava’s Poetry Book “Lahrein” was held in Bombay Palace chaired by Mrs Monika Kapil Mohta (Minister Culture), Director of the Nehu Centre. Mr Madhup Mohita, a famous poet and a high official of India High Commissiom and other distinguished guests, poets, artists and well wishers were present at this occasion. Mr Prem Modgil, General Secretary of Kavya Dhara welcomed all with brief introduction. The gist of the book is:

‘Our heart is like an ocean

Where waves of emotions rise and fall

Poetry Book “Lahrein”

Has captured them all.’

After Diva Lighting, Urmilla Bhardwaj, Social Secretary of Kavya Dhara recited a poem written by her as a tribute to Pushpa Bhargava. Mrs Sushma Mehta, the Artistic Director of Shamma Dance Company explained that poetry is at heart of all performing arts. It gives life and enhances the beauty of arts. She presented a few dances based on Pushpa’s poetry, performed by her Dance Company artists. The guest speaker, Dr Satyendra Srivastava, a renowned author and poet and ex-lecturer of Cambridge University admired enduring quality of Pushpa’s poetry with great appeal for readrers. Thereafter Mrs Usha Saxena, a well known poet amd Vice President of Hindi Samiti, spoke of Pushpa’s cultural, social and literary activities. She described her poetry as written in many moods and said that her most beautifully written illustrated book “Lahrein” is one of its own kind. Bhartendu Vimal, a well known poet and former News Reader of BBC Radio London also recited a poem and paid tribute to Pushpa Bhargava.

Mrs Monika Mohta then launched the book officially and praised Pushpa’s cultural and literary work. She paid tribute to her for keeping the Indian culture alive and praised her for writing beautiful poetry.

One of the exciting part of the event was Jaya Bhargava, Pushpa’s grand daughter who recited one of Pushpa’s poem beautifully. It was like filling up the genration gap. Finally Mr Modgil gave Vote of Thanks. The event turned out to be a great success and ended with sumptuous lunch.
